Disc jockey Alan Freed was the first to call it "rock 'n' roll" but it was Elvis Aaron Presley who gave the new music sex appeal. Footage shows Little Richard as he wails, "Lucille", Jerry Lee Lewis pumps out a frenzied version of "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"; Buddy Holly sings "Oh Boy". Dick Clark recalls the origins of American Bandstand, and Elvis Presley sings "Hound Dog" on the Milton Berle TV variety show and shows up three months later on the Ed Sullivan Show.
