Containing two complete training videos on one DVD, Celebrating Language & Literacy is also a valuable resource for involving families in children's learning. The first video, Celebrating Language & Literacy for Infants, Toddlers and Twos, provides important foundational knowledge about how early literacy skills develop in the context of caring relationships and experiences with families, teachers, and communities. It provides examples of the many ways that language and literacy skills develop and demonstrates the critical role adults play in helping very young children understand the world around them. The second video, Strategies for Early Language and Literacy Development, shows in a practical way how everyday routines, experiences, and environments support children's emerging skills. Full of ideas you can put to use immediately in your classroom or a home setting, this video shows how adults help very yound children develop a foundation for later learning through: nuturing relationships, listening and talking, routines and experiences, modeling, symbols, sounds, rhyme, rhythm, and song, experiences with print and writing, and enjoyable experiences with books. |
